Bennett DriveAway is one of fourteen operating companies within the Bennett Family of Companies. Founded in 1974 as George Bennett Motor Express, Bennett Family of Companies began as a small intrastate trucking operation with five trucks and two customers. Over the years, it has grown into a global transportation and logistics provider serving thousands of customers across North America. Led by CEO and Chair Marcia G. Taylor and backed by a nationwide team of over 4,000 driver/owner-operators, over 1,000 employees, and 600 agents, Bennett is recognized as a leading provider of supply chain solutions to government contractors and corporations worldwide.
Bennett DriveAway’s executive management team has over 100 years of combined experience managing vehicle delivery services. In addition to offering a wealth of specialized knowledge and experience, Bennett DriveAway leverages the skills and assets of several affiliated entities to gain access to the latest industry practices and advancements. We maintain membership in the Used Truck Association, National Truck Equipment Association and the Women’s Business Enterprise Council.
Our History
In 1986, the late Ted Paul and current DriveAway Executive Vice President Gerald Fitzgerald started Bennett DriveAway with 25 contractors and two locations. Today, DriveAway has over 900 DOT-certified contractors providing a range of vehicle delivery services in 48 states and Canada and 33 local offices strategically located at manufacturing sites across the United States.
In August 2022, Bennett DriveAway expanded operations with the asset purchase from Don Ray Drive-A-Way, Company, Inc., a Decatur, Indiana-based business. Assets included in the acquisition are the experienced driver force, the network of facilities, and knowledgeable sales, operations, and office employees. This acquisition is the first in Bennett DriveAway’s history and will allow for increased customer reach and expanded transportation scope.
