One of the most fascinating things about the trucking industry is the people you meet from all walks of life. No two drivers are the same, which means no two stories are the same. We’ve met drivers who have been driving, quite literally, since they were old enough to, and then we’ve met drivers who are just getting into the industry for varied reasons.

Charles Williams has been in the industry for quite some time. 16 years to be exact! He’s seen it change many times, for the worse and for the better. We sat down with him to get some insight on what it’s been like to make the switch to Bennett after having been in the industry for well over a decade. Charles has been driving for Bennett for two months, and here’s what he had to say.
Charles: Since 2001, about 16 years!
Charles: I had a friend who had driven for Bennett and told me good things about it. I made the switch because I was an owner operator, and my truck continually gave me problem after problem and I finally had to let it go and walk away from it. I thought Bennett could help me get out of that hole.
Charles: I knew Bennett was a good company, but I previously I wasn’t aware they had a much good freight as they do. Utilizing the load board and seeing how much the loads pay has been very helpful to me.
Charles: Mr. Michael Durden has been very helpful to me if I’m ever in a bind out on the road. He will try to help me out in any way possible. Another person who’s been very helpful to me is my dispatcher. She will try to assist me in any way she can. She’ll let me know if there is anything she needs me to do to help her out, or if there’s something she thinks will be good for me to help me out. It’s a good situation for both of us.
Charles: I can’t say anything bad about Bennett. What I would say is, utilize the load board to work for you. When I’m on the road, I’ll just look at the load board and pick and choose where I want to go. You truly can choose your own path at Bennett, and that’s been beneficial for me.
