Remember Our Fallen U.S. Veterans on Wreaths Across America Day

November 4, 2022

Wreaths Across America (WAA) is an organization that coordinates wreath laying ceremonies at more than 3,400 locations across the United States, at sea, and abroad to help remember veterans and their sacrifices. Since 2017, the Bennett Family of Companies and the Taylor Family Foundation have proudly supported WAA during the Christmas season by providing trucking and financial support for the organization.

During that time, Bennett and the Taylor Foundation have raised enough money to haul over 65,000 wreaths to Andersonville National Cemetery. For the first time last year, Bennett secured over 20,300 wreaths to meet its goal of covering every gravesite with a tribute wreath during the Christmas holiday. Entering its sixth year with WAA, Bennett’s financial goal is to surpass funds generated last year to ensure all 20,300 gravesites at Andersonville National Cemetery have a wreath.

“Wreaths Across America aligns with Bennett’s Patriotism core value. We have strong roots in the military with our employees, drivers and customers. Honoring our fallen heroes is a passion of mine, and for so many of our employees who have lost loved ones or choose to honor the sacrifice others have made for our freedom.”

said Lee Gentry, Executive Vice President of the Bennett Family of Companies

Bennett’s goal for Wreaths Across America Day on December 17, 2022 is to be able to cover all 20,300 graves at Andersonville National Cemetery with a tribute wreath during the Christmas holiday.

Bennett has proudly employed numerous Veteran employees, drivers, and agents. By donating time out of their normal schedule, Bennett truck driver teams gather and transport the wreaths from Columbia Falls, Maine to Andersonville National Cemetery in Andersonville, GA every year. These truck driver teams are affectionately known as “Rolling Ambassadors”, and they look forward to supporting the mission of WAA by hauling these wreaths to decorate the tombstones of those that passed away while serving our country.

Mikkel Forney, owner operator with Ace Doran Hauling & Rigging Co., was one of Bennett’s Rolling Ambassadors last year who helped to pick up and haul 5,100 wreaths from Maine to Andersonville National Cemetery. After serving in the United States Army for several years, Mikkel started in the trucking industry as a driver in 2004.

Mikkel Forney, owner operator with Ace Doran, was a Rolling Ambassador for Wreaths Across America Day 2021.

“I didn’t know much about Wreaths Across America but when asked if I would like to participate in Wreaths Across America Day for 2021, I jumped at the opportunity. It was a wonderful experience to participate in.”

said Mikkel Forney, Ace Doran owner operator

On this upcoming Veteran’s Day, please consider sponsoring a wreath to place on the gravesites of fallen heroes at Andersonville National Cemetery during the Christmas holiday.  National Wreaths Across America Day is December 17 this year.  To learn more about Wreaths Across America or to sponsor a wreath, visit here.
