- The oil market gave up early gains on Wednesday as a widespread economic slowdown weighed on energy prices.
- A litany of poor economic data sapped Asian markets, but some optimism emerged as China and Japan said they would use fiscal spending to boost growth.
- The U.S. Energy Information Administration expects shale output to rise further, but says production growth will slow in the coming years.
