Oil gave up the day’s gains heading into the settlement on Wednesday, after earlier drawing support from a drop in U.S. crude inventories and a cut in Libyan exports.
Disruptions to Libyan oil exports after local militia seized the country’s biggest oil field, El Sharara, were also buoying prices, traders said.
U.S. commercial crude inventories fell by 1.2 million barrels in the week through Dec. 7, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported.
