“This is a company with a mission, goals and vision that is phenomenal,” said GPA Chair Dr. Joni Prince before presenting the award to Bennett during an awards ceremony. “The people at this company really support each other.” Bennett was also recognized for having a strong and active wellness program that has saved and transformed employees’ lives. Bennett’s faith-based culture of caring about the well-being of its employees and providing counseling and one-on-one involvement were also touted.
Bennett is one of four companies selected to receive the award, which is given to companies who make a commitment to programs and policies that foster employee health and wellbeing while enhancing organizational performance and productivity. The GPA evaluates companies based on five criteria:
- Employee involvement
- Work-life balance
- Employee growth and development
- Health and safety
- Employee recognition
“What makes our award different from other workplace awards is that we come out to the organizations to meet with the leaders and employees to get a good idea of what is taking place in their workplaces,” Dr. Prince said in her opening remarks at the awards ceremony. Before presenting the award, Dr. Prince recognized Bennett for “walking the talk” and creating a family atmosphere.
The award ceremony included comments from GPA President Dr. Michael Johns, GPA Chair Dr. Joni E. Prince, and a guest speaker, Ed Baker, former publisher of the Atlanta Business Chronicle, who spoke about the challenges the Millennial generation faces in the workplace.
